A Rich History of Experience

 
       
 

Mr. LeGrand graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduating, Mr. LeGrand worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in Charleston, SC, designing mechanical systems, writing system descriptions and Navy technical manuals for modifications to submarines.

fire dept standpipeMr. LeGrand then worked for Lockwood Greene Engineers and Lockwood Greene Technologies in Oak Ridge, TN. This experience included detail design of HVAC, fire protection, process, power, and utility piping systems. This experience included fire protection hydraulic calculations, piping system hydronic calculations, steam pipng stress analyses, and life cycle cost analyses.

At Gasser Associates in Aiken, SC, Mr LeGrand analyzed fire hazards and life safety issues in new designs and in existing buildings. He also designed fire protection systems and reviewed sprinkler and fire alarm contractor shop drawings for compliance with designs. In addition, he provided mechanical engineering services, designing of piping, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

Mr. LeGrand worked briefly for Westinghouse Safety Management Solutions, also in Aiken, SC, providing fire protection consulting services, primarily Fire Hazards Analyses for Department of Energy facilities.

Consulting and design servicesThrough his business, LeGrand Engineering, Inc., Mr. LeGrand now concentrates on his design and consulting strengths in fire protection engineering. With 20 years experience, he has dealt with a wide variety of building occupancies, fire hazards, and life safety issues. He has designed fire protection systems, including many types of fire suppression systems and fire alarm and detection systems, for new and existing buildings.

Examples of Mr. LeGrand’s previous experience include suppression and alarm system design for laboratory buildings, military barracks, aircraft hanger repair facility; suppression system design for chemical processing facilities, flammable liquids storage and transfer facilities; office and conference buildings; and life safety surveys and fire hazards analyses for business, factory/industrial, and hazardous occupancies.

Mr. LeGrand is also available to provide mechanical engineering design services to clients including hydronic systems design, power and utility piping systems design, piping system pressure protection and stress analysis, HVAC design, and stair tower pressurization and smoke removal design.
